Sierra Leone Trip Budget Planner: What a Lungi Arrival Really Costs

Most trip budgets forget the crossing from Lungi Airport to Freetown. We built a free planner that adds it up for you, using prices collected at our own front desk.

What the planner does

One-way crossing costs for one traveller

These ranges come from our Arrival Cost Index (Q3 2026) and include a porter for one bag per person.

• Government ferry (cheapest): US$26 to US$30
• Sea Coach / Sea Bird (fastest): US$53 to US$55
• By road via Port Loko (no boat): US$105 to US$147

For a group of four the ferry works out at US$60 to US$69, while the fast boat is US$208 to US$212, so group size changes the best choice. The ferry is cheapest but runs to a timetable, with the last boat at about 8:30 PM, so check you will make it.

• One traveller, 7 nights: US$545 to US$637
• A couple, 5 nights: US$770 to US$816
• A family of four, 3 nights: US$553 to US$612

Read the fine print

Your Freetown hotel rate is yours to set, because it depends on where you stay. Fares move with fuel and bargaining, so treat every figure as a range, not a quote. The planner uses US$1 = NLe 24. Our own rooms start at US$50 a night, see the October 2026 rates and the Arrival Cost Index.
