Flight Delayed or Cancelled at Lungi? What to Do Tonight

A delay, cancellation or missed connection at Lungi can strand you after the last ferry has gone. This is a calm checklist for the first hour, and a room close by when you need to wait.

The first hour

1. Go to your airline's desk. Ask: Is the flight cancelled or delayed, until when, and what will you do for me? Ask whether they provide a room, meals or transport.
2. Get it in writing. A message, an email or a stamped note. Names and times help if you claim later.
3. Keep everything. Boarding pass, bag tags, receipts for rooms, meals and transport.
4. Ask about immigration. If you have already cleared departure formalities, ask the airline or immigration whether you need to be re-processed before you leave the airport.
5. Charge your phone. You will need it for airline messages, WhatsApp and a ride.

If you need to wait until morning

• The government ferry does not run through the night, so a night crossing to Freetown is not a good plan. Staying on the Lungi side is simpler and safer.
• Choose somewhere close, so you can return quickly if the airline rebooks you onto an earlier flight.
• Tell the airline where you are staying and keep your phone on.

A room close by
